Terms of Service

1) The service

SecreTag is provided by ShipperSecrets LLC ("ShipperSecrets", "we", "us"). The service covers the website at secretag.co, the API documentation at docs.secretag.co and the SecreTag API at api.secretag.co.

SecreTag gives shippers disposable GPS tags to place in their shipments, tracking of where those tags report from, cargo insurance offered with tagged shipments, an API and webhooks for connecting other software, and a sandbox for testing that connection.

2) Accepting these terms

By using the service you agree to these terms. If you use it for a business, you agree on that business's behalf and confirm that you may do so.

You must be at least 18 to use SecreTag.

3) Accounts and API keys

Keep your password and your API keys secret. Anything done with your account or your keys is treated as done by you, so tell us at once if you think one has been exposed.

We may revoke an API key that is used abusively or that we believe has been exposed.

4) SecreTag tags and tracking

A tag reports its location while it travels with a shipment. Tracking shows the reports we receive. A tag can stop reporting, and a report can arrive late, so the tracking record may have gaps.

Use tags only in shipments you are entitled to send, and follow the laws that apply to tracking where you ship.

5) Cargo insurance

Cargo insurance is offered with tagged shipments. These terms do not describe the coverage itself. Ask us for the coverage terms that apply to your shipments before you rely on them.

6) Risk scores and data

A risk score is computed by the tracking network SecreTag licenses, from its signals about the address, including a dispute history pooled across that network's customers. It is an estimate. It helps you judge a delivery address. It is not a guarantee that a shipment will or will not be lost, and you decide what to do with it.

7) The API, webhooks and the sandbox

The API lets your software read and update its tags, create, read and update shipments and declare their values, and read and resolve disputes and generate and download their evidence. It also lets your software read and mark alerts, score delivery addresses, manage webhook subscriptions and, on the sandbox host, simulate tag events. Webhooks send updates to an address you choose. You are responsible for the systems that receive them.

The sandbox is for testing. Its data is made up and is not a record of any real shipment.

8) Service availability

We work to keep SecreTag running, but we do not promise any level of uptime. The service may be interrupted for maintenance, and it depends on networks and providers we do not control.

9) Acceptable use

Do not:

• scrape the websites or the API, or copy their content in bulk;
• attack the service, probe it for weaknesses, or try to get around its limits or its security;
• use it to track a person without the right to do so;
• file a dispute you know to be false, or send us false information.

10) Termination

You can stop using SecreTag at any time and ask us to close your account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Sections 11, 13, 14 and 16 still apply after an account is closed.

11) Intellectual property

SecreTag, its name, its logo, the tag design and the software behind the service belong to ShipperSecrets. Using the service does not give you any right to them beyond using the service.

You own the data you send us. You let us use it only to provide the service to you.

12) Privacy and security

The Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how we protect it.

13) Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided as it is and as it is available. To the extent the law allows, we make no promise that it will be uninterrupted, error free or fit for a particular purpose, and no promise that tracking or a risk score will be complete or accurate.

14) Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost business. Our total liability for any claim about the service is limited to what you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim.

This section does not change any cargo insurance coverage that applies to your shipment, and it does not limit liability that the law does not allow to be limited.

15) Changes to these terms

When we change these terms, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top. Using the service after a change means you accept the new terms.

16) Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois. Any dispute about them or the service is brought in the state or federal courts located in Illinois.
